Authentic Italian Meatball: My Nonna’s Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb 80% Ground Beef

  • 1 Cup of Parmesan Cheese

  • 1/2 Cup Plain Bread Crumbs

  • 2 Large Eggs

  • 1 Cup of Whole Milk

  • 3 Clove of Garlic

  • 1 Teaspoon of Salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper

  • 2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Oil

  • 1/4 Cup of Tomato Puree

Directions

  • Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Milk, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a plate.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet and add two garlic cloves.
  • When the garlic starts sizzling, add the meatballs.
  • Cook each side for about 3 minutes or until they get brown on the bottom.
  • Add the tomato puree, chopped basil, salt to taste, and 1/2 cup of water. Slowly shake the pane to spread the sauce around.
  • Simmer the sauce covered with a lid over low heat for about 15-20 minutes. Turn them halfway through.
  • Enjoy your homemade Italian meatballs!

Notes

  • Serve the meatballs and sauce over cooked pasta or as desired
